Make things as simple as possible, but no simpler. – Albert Einstein
It’s normal human nature to make things complicated. Upon searching the Internet for leadership definitions, one finds an enormous amount of data about leadership. Many of the papers on the websites are very scholarly and well written, and far too complicated. Truth is simple. There are points of clarity and apparent contradictions. The profound truth is in the microspace between the contradictions. There are also points of wisdom in finding simple truths, if we only pay attention.
I think we want to make everything very complex when it’s really very simple.
Leadership is three things:
- Leaders get things done
- Leaders know how things get done
- Leaders influence others
We try to make it complex when it’s really simple. Just lead.
